Songs and lyrics

Navarro

I’ve gone out to look for you many a night,
With hope in my heart and a smile on my face.
It’s not easy finding your way without light,
And I go on wandering the night alone,
Til I find you.

I search around fires to look for your face,
Through shoulders hunched over that shut out the light.
I run into others who’re seeking the grace that’s where you are,
And we go on tripping the night away,
Til we find you.

Voices can drive away shadows
Until all the rays of the sun can reach
Down in the meadow,
Til your voice brings in the dawn

The night closes round us as we plod along
Starlight through black trees
Each foot placed with feeling instead of with sight.
Oooh nothing else can be seen
One voice starts to break through the dark with a song.
Sound pours into night
We listen as we let it lead the way,
Til we find you.
There you are.

Voices can drive away shadows
Until all the rays of the sun can reach
Down in the meadow,
Til your voice brings in the dawn

Ruts in the road can trip your way.
A steady arm reaches out to say:
I can take you. We can…
You don’t have to find your way alone.
Hold my hand and we’ll…
make our way back home

When we’ve finally found you alone by the fire,
Guitar in hand waiting to play us a song,
Our voices lift up like the night’s own choir,
And we go on singing the night away,
Til we find you.
There you are

(Sing your song)
Voices can drive away shadows
Until all the rays of the sun can reach
Down in the meadow,
Til your voice brings in the dawn

Summer’s End

Just blink your eyes and it’s happened,
Is that girl in the rearview still me?
The ticks on the clock just keep tapping,
As the horizon blurs into a
Red, fading Sun, here at
Summer’s End.

I spent so many hours out there chasing,
That I couldn’t hold on to what I had found.
I wasn’t winning, but I was racing,
I never had time to notice the
Red, fading Sun, here at
Summer’s End.

‘Cause after all the daffodils are gone,
Before the naked ladies come along,
Look around you now, ‘cause it won’t be long,
Hold on to your summer days.

The hills go from green to golden
Sometimes they go down too early in flames
Against skies you could lose your soul in,
Until the blue disappears in a
Red, fading Sun, here at
Summer’s End.

‘Cause after all the daffodils are gone,
Before the naked ladies come along,
Look around you now, ‘cause it won’t be long,
Hold on to your summer days.

I’ll blink my eyes some more times as she’s setting
I’m lucky to be here at this time of day
And watch the night sky approach through the heavens
As the day’s light goes down into a
Red, fading Sun, here at
Summer’s End.

‘Cause after all the daffodils are gone,
Before the naked ladies come along,
Look around you now, ‘cause it won’t be long,
Hold on to your summer days.

Monumental Story

They’re wrong, it’s based only on fleeting witness
The judges, they judge and they all say their bit
A brief peak through your narrow castle window
Is not enough to know your monumental story

They are wrong. You are strong.

Surrounded by all of the jagged pieces
A puzzle evolving, all the way around us
Hold on to the strands of your stubborn journey
And nurture them to share your monumental story

Hearing the smug crows of mothers, with not enough to say
Building a lifeboat, we slowly drift away

We’ll never leave you wanting
And never let you fall kid,
You're braver than all those out there
You can stand up tall
Flummoxed all the doctors
Who said that it was lost
Hell, you wanna be on their right side
Signs so flipped and tossed

You open the door to a magic kingdom
A world full of mystery. See how you come alive.
The old man. A monster. A fire ninja.
You conquered them and built your monumental story.

Please teach us slowly, about all your tangled ways to be
Twisted paths you go down make me dizzy

If we ever leave you wanting
We’ll always break your fall
Kid, you proved to all us out there
That you can stand as tall
Forget about those doctors
‘Cos you can do it all
Hell, you showed them all your bright side
But we don’t know much more

We don’t know much more
We’ll never leave you wanting
And never let you fall
As brave as all those out there
You can stand as tall

So take the helm, kid
And sail the big ship all the way to shore

And the priceless joy is ours
When you reach up for the sky
A complex little boy
A stubborn little boy
Our brilliant little boy

They’re wrong… it’s you who writes the story
Make it come alive!

Look to the Morning

Look to the morning
You and your emerald eyes
That shimmer like waves meeting
hushed on the shore

Look to the morning
you and your luminous smile
Carrying history of nobles
That walked here before

There is still beauty
Cool green rivers and
warm shallow bays

Somehow it will be alright
(somehow it will be right)

Look to the morning
(Look to the sun)
With your immaculate thoughts
Like bolts of dry lightning
(Bolts of lightning crash)
that crash in the storm

When you look to the morning
(Here comes the sun now)
You and your limitless heart
Will walk through the fire while this world is in flames
(Walk through flames)
You are sound, you are strong

There is still beauty
(There is beauty)
Cool green rivers and
(Cool green warm bays)
warm shallow bays
Somehow it will be alright
(somehow it will be right)

Look to the morning
Look to the endless skies
Look to the sun never failing to rise

Look to the morning
With your impeccable words
Tying threads that are frayed
(Threads and souls are frayed)
And souls that are worn

When you look to the morning darling
You and your generous deeds
Can walk through the fire while this world is in flames
(Walk through fire and flames)
You are sound, you are strong

There is still beauty
(There is beauty)
Cool green rivers and
warm shallow bays

Somehow it will be alright
(somehow it will be right)

Look to the morning
Look to the endless skies
Look to the sun never failing to rise

Look to the morning
Look to the coming dawn
Remember these moments are here
Then they’re gone

Last Night the Lightning

Last night the lightning came, through the window
Slipped in through the blinds
Last night the lightning sliced up the hours
to spaces in time
Last night the* lighting came, with a fury
Set the past on fire
Last night the lightning raged, had its moment
Then silenced the sky

Waiting there, we were counting out the time
Beneath the dream that we were under
Waiting there, in the spaces, yeah we were waiting there
For the thunder

Last night the lightning came, for a moment
Bathed us in blue light
Last night the lightning left, and the heartbeat
Sped thru the night

Waiting there, (we were) tapping out the time
Beneath the spell that we were under
Laying bare, (in the) spaces
We were waiting there
For the thunder

In between
Between the darkness and the glowing
In between,
Between the wonder & the knowing

Last night the lightning came, to remind us
Change will always come
Last night the lightning left us blinded
Restless till dawn

Waiting there, (we were) counting out the time
Beneath the dream that we were under
Waiting there, (in the) spaces, yeah we were waiting there
For the thunder

Dark and Wild

She crossed you over, then the rains began
Now the river’s dark and wild
Currents cross my best laid plans and
I’ll see you on the other side

So sit beside me as she pulls down stream
Flow unites, this flow divides
Her dark brown water’s gonna wash me clean
and I’ll see you on the other side

So wait for me, I’ve still got time
I’m gonna float this raft down for a while
The river runs so dark and wild and
I’ll see you on the other side

I’ll pick my poison and
I’ll tow the line
I pray the river treats me kind
But like my soul she’s dark & wild, and
I’ll see you on the other side

So wait for me, I’ve still got time
to float this raft down for a while
The river runs so dark and wild and
I’ll see you on the other side

Bare brown bones of root and bark
Reach for something in the dark
A life denied or lightning’s spark
The promise of the other side

We crossed you over, now… your day recedes
We wander by the waterside
We’re starting over but we’re in between, and
headed for the other side

So wait for me, I’ve still got time
I’m gonna float this raft down for a while
The river runs so dark and
I’ll see you on the other side
The River runs so dark and wild and I’ll see you on the other side

Bird of Kings

(Bird song)

Mercury fell robin started freezing
Out there in the snow
No gaps in the cloud, whiteout in a daze
Is the only comfort for her now
Still she flits between the frost in the hedgerows in hope
So long before the roosters crow

Flirting for food she yearns to find her other
Listens for his voice now
They share a brief song of love, a tune to last a year
Egg is warm with feathers near
A mother warms her young over moss, leaves, and grass
While she’s waiting for the storm to pass

There’s a cabin deep in the trees
Song warns of a sparrow hawk circling near
Fear not, redbreast I’m here

(Bird song interlude)

Four tiny toes, settle on the frozen ground
First away from home
While other birds are quiet now, weakened by the cold
Robin keeps his song alive
Until the birth of springtime, from seedlings below
So far beneath the melting snow

There’s a hero deep in the trees
Song warns of a sparrow hawk circling near
Fear not, redbreast I’m here

Yearlong my redbreast sings
He’s guarding his home, but
Little does he know
The joy and the calm he brings
The fearless bird of kings

My old friend nestled in the blossom of your apple tree
Spread your wings in posture
Puff out your crimson throat,
I won’t encroach on you
I will cherish you... and your song

Down to the Wire

I remember how you smiled
I was no more than a child
A child standing close by your side
Us against the world outside

Reaching back into those times
Through the fog that’s in my mind
So many mountains to climb
Leaving the good days behind

Couldn’t set us on fire
Blew on the coals, but the sparks wouldn’t fly
Now that it’s all coming down to the wire
Couldn’t set us on fire

I still scratch upon your door
Not as often as before
Trying to even the score,
With one of us asking for more

Played my part, I’d never deny
But what can you do if the sparks won’t fly

I’ll sit round this ring of stones
As I feel all of the cold
burrowing deep in my bones
Wishing we could go back home

Going Home

I was vulnerable like a child
I thought that you were there to replace me
I was overwhelmed and sleep deprived
I thought that you were trying to break me

But you cracked me open with your smile
Chipping away with your virtue
You won me over with your style
There was nothing to do but trust you

Now here we are after all these years
Hundreds of hours on the phone
Here we are spilling our last tears
Are you going home, going home?

There’s no guidebook to get us through
Now that you have chosen your destiny
I’ll be there, I’ll be at your side
Until the end, you are teaching me

Now here we are after all these years
Hundreds of hours on the phone
Here we are spilling our last tears
Are you going home, going home?

Now here you stand with no denial
Intentions are solid as a stone
You have no sins to reconcile
Are you going home, going home?
Are you going home, going home?

Lunamor

It came through the rain like the moon bows above.
Did you know it was coming from me?

Beamed across the seams, unfolding tendrils of love.
Did you know it was coming from me?

I think you know what it is that I’ve been dreaming.
But I can’t take it. I’d never make it.
I can’t swim across this warm, narrow sea.

Calls through the falls that all echo your name.
Did you know they were coming from me?

Did you feel all the love coming out of the moon?
Did you know it was coming from me?

My heart takes the part that my hands never will.
Don’t you know it’s coming from me?
It’s coming from me.
